The word oga - deriving from the Yoruba language of the Yoruba people - roughly translates to master or leader

One destined day founder and creative director Kemi Amin asked her inner Oga:

"What would a greetings from a leader look like, sound like, and feel like?"

Greetings from OGA became the answer.

Our mission:

  • Bring awareness to emerging and established artists of color
  • Building and nurturing a community where people of color explore their natural creativity
  • Celebrate global cultures, places and people of color using gifts as the canvas

Founder & Creative Director, Kemi Amin

I am an Oakland, CA native. My best work is that of a design strategist, storyteller, and idea-generator with a background in graphic design, marketing, and communications. My heritage is Yoruba, my ancestral home is Nigeria, and my birth home is America. I find joy in curating tangible and in-person experiences for creative exploration. Inspired by the traditional and contemporary aesthetic and cultural expressions of people of color from around the world, I am continuing my journey of self-mastery through the practice and celebration of creativity.

This journey began after completing graduate school in 2012, I was determined to establish a practice that reflected my natural inclination towards creativity and curation. Through the twists and turns of the two years that followed, I came to the concept of Greetings from OGA. Yet the work of mastery in my own life had to first become a true practice. In 2017 I reached a state of momentum that has brought my vision to a beautiful reality - welcome to Greetings from OGA.
